HORORATA

From the humble township of Hororata escape to a world of peace and tranquility in a hot air balloon across the Canterbury Plains to the Southern Alps.

Placed on the most direct route from Christchurch to the ski fields south of the Rakaia River, Hororata is a popular stopping place in the winter season for Christchurch-bound ski traffic.

Just forty-five minutes’ drive from the big city, calling into Rockwood Station Gardens is well worth the stop. Take a wander through the beautiful black beech forest, a true slice of what this little town has to offer.

To experience the unique atmosphere of Selwyn’s beautiful landscapes, experiencing Lake Coleridge High Country should be at the top of your to do list. Whether it’s a 4WD tour, horse trekking or golf, there is something for everyone. Plan a walk and take a picnic, or enjoy your corporate event in style at Terrace Downs or the Lake Coleridge Lodge.
